How Our Journey Began
The pandemic really opened our eyes to the need for an outstanding virtual tutoring service. The experience most families had during the height of COVID-19 was that of a poorly thrown together, disengaging view of online learning. The reality was that no one was prepared. Children were unfocused because the world was a scary place, parents’ anxieties were at an all time high, and families were stressed being cooped up together while balancing remote work.
Even before that many school sponsored online programs left parents with a bad taste due to poor funding, organization, and limited resources. But the reality is that we’ve been moving towards a fully digital world for decades. Post-pandemic it is now natural to attend doctor appointments online, speak to friends and families frequently via Zoom, and participate in clubs virtually. We knew coming out of the pandemic that offering premium education support via online tutoring was a way for us to lead the way and help normalize what will soon be the future.
Who We Are
We began as Stride Tutoring in 2022, offering online tutoring support to both school districts and direct-to-consumer. In 2024, we rebranded as K12 Tutoring to more closely align with our core brand, K12, which has a 25-year legacy of excellence in providing innovative educational services. Some of the other prominent brands in the Stride portfolio include Stride Learning Solutions, Stride Career Prep, MedCerts, Tech Elevator, and Galvanize.

Where does K12 Tutoring find its tutors?
K12 Tutoring accepts applications from all over the country. We then screen every tutor with a comprehensive background check, validate their teaching credentials, and ensure they’re a good fit for our platform.
Is K12 Tutoring a new company?
Yes and no. We launched services direct to consumers September 14, 2022. However, we’re a portfolio brand born out of Stride, Inc., an industry leader that has been pioneering the online education space for over twenty years with public and private virtual schools through our K12 business.
What technology or platforms are used for online tutoring sessions?
We use a proprietary technology platform custom built for students and tutors to interact with one another through messaging and video. Tutoring sessions are hosted in a video collaboration platform called Engageli.
